Target Group and Requirements

The course is aimed at teachers at lower secondary level who have already obtained a teaching qualification for lower secondary level and who teach or wish to teach computer science at lower secondary level.  

Jupyter Notebooks and Python are used in the professional development, for which basic knowledge of Jupyter Notebooks is recommended.

Contents 

This module focuses on the introduction to the web application “Jupyter Notebooks” and the programming language Python. At the same time, the concept of computational essays as documentation of the programming process and the results in the context of an epistemic programming approach is discussed.

  • Introduction to Python and Jupyter Notebooks
  • Introduction to Computational Essays 
  • Epistemic programming including data exploration as a field of application
  • Analysis and exploration of various data (environmental data, survey data (e.g. Jim study), ...) 
  • Various cell formatting and possible customizations in Jupyter Notebooks
  • Create your own computational essay
