Information on our Professional Development Courses
Based on the experience gained from the ProDaBi project, we offer various professional development courses for computer science teachers who would like to incorporate data science and ideas of data-driven machine learning and artificial intelligence into their elective lessons in grades 8 to 10 (grammar schools, comprehensive schools, secondary schools, lower secondary schools, intermediate secondary schools). The materials are compatible with the current North Rhine-Westphalia curriculum. The professional development courses present tried-and-tested teaching units and materials that have been jointly developed by experienced computer science teachers from the Arnsberg, Detmold and Münster districts and staff from the ProDaBi project at Paderborn University.
M1: Datendetektive bei der Arbeit - Data Science und künstliche Intelligenz (ohne Programmieren)
In this professional development module, two teaching units focus on the introduction to data science using data exploration and decision trees as an AI method of machine learning. The two teaching units in this module can be used in different ways. They can be taught in sequence or as individual units, depending on the desired focus.
